Chico California Photographer:: How Great Thou Art

A few days ago Travis told me "We need to find a song that we play for the baby every night so that when he gets here and is fussy, we can play it for him and it will calm him down." Okay, seriously--I thought that was so sweet.

So, two nights ago we were laying in bed and thinking of a song to play to our baby. We decided on the song that Travis and I first danced to at our Wedding. It is by Edwin McCain I Could Not Ask For More. We played it that night. However, that just didn't feel right to me. I wanted a song that would be more lasting than that. I wanted our son to hear the song, later know the song, and then believe the words.

Every once in a while, I go to YouTube and listen to Carrie Underwood sing How Great Thou Art. It brings tears to my eyes--even before pregnancy.:) After talking to Travis about it, we changed the song.

Last night, laying in bed, I said "Okay, baby. This is going to be the song that you will hear every night until you are born. We want you to know how great your God is." Travis said "Yup" and tucked his head on my chest and hand on my tummy:)

Baby boy was groovin' to the beat. Head on over to YouTube and watch Carrie Underwood sing this--I just cried listening to it. Enjoy:)

How Great Thou Art
Oh Lord my God,
When I in awesome wonder
Consider all the worlds
Thy hands have made
I see the stars
I hear the rolling thunder
Thy power throughout
The universe displayed

Then sings my soul
My Savior, God, to Thee
How great thou art
How great thou art
Then sings my soul
My Savior, God, to Thee
How great Thou art
How great Thou art

When through the woods
And forest glades I wander
I hear the birds
Sing sweetly in the trees;
When I look down
From lofty mountain grandeur
And hear the brook
And feel the gentle breeze;

Then sings my soul
My Savior, God, to Thee
How great thou art
How great thou art
Then sings my soul
My Savior, God, to Thee
How great Thou art
How great Thou art

I think of God
His son not sparing,
Sent Him to die,
I scarce can take it in;
That on the cross, my burden
gladly bearing He bled and died
to take away my sin

Then sings my soul
My Savior, God, to Thee
How great thou art
How great thou art
Then sings my soul
My Savior, God, to Thee
How great Thou art
How great Thou art

When Christ shall come
With shout of acclamation
And take me home
What joy shall fill my heart
Then I shall bow
With humble adoration
And then proclaim My God
How great Thou art
